Woman in custody after crash in Launceston

A 38 year old Kings Meadows woman is in custody following a traffic incident in Hobart Road in the early hours of this morning.

A Silver Mitsubishi Magna wagon was travelling at high speed north on Hobart Road when it failed to negotiate a sweeping right hand bend near the Six Ways intersection about 3.15am today.

The vehicle crashed through two fences before coming to rest in the front yard of 28 Hobart Road. The crash caused significant damage to the fencing and yards of 28 and 30 Hobart Road.

The driver of the vehicle, a 38 year old Kings Meadows woman, fled the scene but was located by police nearby. She was treated at the Launceston General Hospital for minor injuries and remains in police custody.
