Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a fatal collision in Carnegie this evening.
A woman was crossing Dandenong Road, at the intersection of Darling Road, when she was struck by a car shortly before 8pm.
The female pedestrian, who is yet to be formally identified, sadly died at the scene.
The female driver stopped at the scene and has been taken into custody.
The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be determined and investigations are ongoing.
