One person has died and another has suffered serious injuries after a large tree branch fell in Darwin’s Botanical Gardens this afternoon.
About 12:50pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a call from a person who was nearby.
St John Ambulance attended the scene but unfortunately a 28-year-old woman was declared deceased.
A 33-year-old man who suffered serious injuries was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital.
Northern Territory Police remain at the site and have cordoned off the scene and are asking people to avoid the area.
