Woman rescued from flooded creek at Mount Barker, South Australia

A woman has had a lucky escape after being rescued from a flooded creek at Mount Barker Springs last night.

Just before 10pm, Thursday 8 August, police were called to a property on Springs Road following reports that a woman had fallen into a fast flowing creek.

The woman, aged in her 50’s, had gone to check on stock and had slipped on a ford crossing and into the flooded creek.

Hills Fleurieu police attended and commenced a search of the creek banks and located her submerged in the water, grasping onto a branch. She had been there for about 40 minutes.

Police had no time to wait for extra resources, and with the assistance of a neighbour and the woman’s husband, an officer tied a rope around his waist and entered the water. He was able to reach the woman and pull her safely from the water.

Thankfully, she was not injured and was treated at the scene by ambulance officers.
