Woman robbed of car at Prospect, South Australia

Two people have been arrested after a car was stolen from a woman at Prospect.

About 9.45am on Friday 24 December, a woman was stopped at traffic lights at the corner of Main North Road and Edgeworth Street when a man armed with a knife opened the passenger side door and demanded she get out of the car.

The victim got out of her Mazda sedan and the man got into the driver’s seat. A woman in company with the man then got into the passenger seat and the pair drove off.

Police tracked the car which showed the location of the Mazda to be on the South Eastern Freeway at Callington.

Murray Bridge patrols spotted the Mazda travelling east on the South Eastern Freeway and pursued the car briefly before terminating due to safety reasons.

Police remained in the area and discovered the car had attempted to take the off ramp on to Swanport Road but had collided with a light pole.

The man and woman were subsequently arrested and are currently being interviewed by police.
