Woolworths drops prices on Christmas staples to help customers spend less

: With value even more important for Australians this Christmas, Woolworths has reduced the price of more than 150 festive season favourites to help families spend less over the entertaining season.

Christmas favourites including pavlova, prawns, roast pork and leg ham, as well as pantry staples, have been included in the latest Prices Dropped and Low Price program to help customers save this season.

The selection has been timed to match customer needs for delicious and convenient meals heading into summer as well as easy entertaining inspiration for family and friends.

Overall, the total saving across the basket of Price Dropped for Christmas products is $214, or an average of 17% less.

Some of the Prices Dropped for Christmas products available from 1 November to 27 December 2023 include:

  • Roast Pork Loin – was $14 per kilo, now $12 per kilo

  • Woolworths’ 2022 Canstar Blue award-winning Pavlova Base – was $9.20, now $6

  • Australian Karumba Banana Prawns 1kg – was $26, now $20 each

  • Bundaberg Sparkling 4pk – was $7.45, now $5.15

  • Smiths Crinkle Cut Chips 380g – was $8.50, now $6

Woolworths half leg ham has also been lowered to $8/kg, which is the lowest price on ham for the Christmas table in nine years. The offer is available now until sold out.

Woolworths Supermarkets Managing Director, Natalie Davis said: “We know customers will be looking to stretch their budgets as far as they can this Christmas.

“We want to help them spend less this festive season via our Prices Dropped for Christmas and Low price programs, as well as our thousands of weekly specials.”

“We’ve got a number of pantry essentials in the Prices Dropped for Christmas range, but we’ve also added some special seasonal picks that are perfect for entertaining. Whether it’s roast pork or a pavlova base, customers can find great prices on key items as they plan for a festive feast including our award-winning half leg ham which is the lowest it’s been at this time for nine years.

“There’s also a vast range of our Woolworths and Gold own brand seasonal products now available. This includes more than 40 award-winning products that are both delicious and affordable, bringing the best of Christmas to our customers with locally sourced ingredients and Australian flavours.”

Other ways to spend less this Christmas:

  • Choose ‘Low Price’ and own brand products: Customers can take advantage of more than 3,000 Low Price products, including Woolworths’ vast range of high quality Own and Exclusive Brand products, to help their shops go further.

  • Try odd bunch fruit & veg: Customers can save at least 20 per cent on great fruit and veg, and reduce waste, with the Odd Bunch range, when compared to our standard shelf prices of conventional fruit and veg.

  • Buy fruit & veg in season: As supply has improved, some veggies are in deflation, cheaper than they were at the same time last year. Currently, vegetables are about 20% cheaper overall than last year (based on Woolworths data from September 2022 vs September 2023).

  • Join Everyday Rewards and become a Member:

    • Customers can help reduce the cost of their shop by joining the Everyday Rewards program which gives members $10 off their shop each time they earn 2000 points.

    • Everyday Rewards members can also access additional points through the Rewards app by Boosting, helping customers reach 2000 points ($10 off a future shop) even faster.

    • As well as earning points as you shop, members can now also access in-store Member Prices – simply scan your Rewards card at the checkout.
