Construction has commenced on a major rebuild of Hillarys Primary School, which will create six new classroom blocks, a Kindergarten building and a new library.
Premier Mark McGowan and Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery visited the school today to turn the first sod of the $20 million redevelopment and view the Lymburner Drive site.
Eight buildings on the northern half of the site will be demolished to make way for six new buildings, including an administration building, a library and an eight-classroom two-storey teaching block.
There is provision for future transportable classrooms, a conference room and additional parking bays at the site. Work is expected to be completed in time for the start of the 2024 school year.
This project is fully funded by the McGowan Government and is part of its WA Recovery Plan, which is supporting WA’s economic recovery through a $492.2 million investment in upgrades and refurbishments at public schools across Western Australia.
Hillarys Primary School is a Kindergarten to Year 6 school and has 553 students. Once built, the school will have a permanent capacity of around 600 students.

“Once complete, students will enjoy the best educational opportunities, with much-improved early learning, arts, music and vocational education facilities.”

“The youngest learners at Hillarys Primary School will benefit from the new early childhood education block, while the older students will soon have access to modern, exciting and welcoming new classrooms and other facilities to learn in.”
