Work has begun on the first stage of the Hilton Park redevelopment, with the refurbishment of the Brad Hardie Pavilion now underway at Dick Lawrence Oval.
Guided by the Hilton Park Precinct Master Plan, adopted by Council in 2024 following community consultation, the redevelopment will deliver upgraded sporting facilities, improved community spaces and new recreation opportunities across Fremantle’s largest sporting and recreation reserve.
The Brad Hardie Pavilion refurbishment will provide a modern, more accessible facility for local sporting clubs, community groups and park users.
Works include upgraded changerooms and amenities, refurbished community spaces, a new public toilet, renewed internal finishes and repainting of the building exterior.
Fremantle Mayor Ben Lawver said the project marked an exciting milestone in delivering the community’s long-term vision for Hilton Park.
“It’s exciting to see the first stage of the Hilton Park redevelopment now underway. These upgrades will provide better facilities for local sporting clubs, volunteers, families and everyone who enjoys this important community space.
“We’re grateful for the Australian Government’s support, together with the City’s investment, which is helping deliver the community’s vision for Hilton Park.
“The Brad Hardie Pavilion is just the beginning, with more improvements planned over the coming years as we continue delivering the Hilton Park Precinct Master Plan,” Mayor Lawver said.
The pavilion is home to the Hilton Park Junior Cricket Club and Fremantle City Dockers Junior Football Club, which have been temporarily relocated while the refurbishment is completed.
Refurbishment of the Brad Hardie Pavilion is expected to take around six months to complete.
The nearby playground, barbecue area and ACROD parking bays will remain open during construction.
