Work has begun on the exciting multimillion dollar refurbishment of the STEM Centre at Newton Moore Senior High School which will see an expanded range of activities for students.
Local Bunbury company Devlyn Constructions will build the new $3 million centre, creating local jobs during the project’s construction.
Students will benefit from state-of-the-art equipment such as laser cutters, 3D printers, plasma cutters, soldering equipment, STEM and robotic kits and computing equipment to prepare students for the jobs of the future.
There will also be a dedicated room for staff for professional learning and to share their expertise and resources with local schools. The centre will also help develop stronger relationships with local industry, businesses and the community through workshops held there.
The construction project will also include some landscaping as well as the refurbishment of the existing design and technology building. Construction is scheduled to be completed by April 2020.

“Newton Moore Senior High School has a strong STEM program and the STEM Centre will help teachers to inspire and challenge students through innovative programs.
“We want students to be ready for the jobs of the future and providing outstanding modern facilities will help prepare them.”

“This project is delivering fantastic outcomes for our community with a local company winning the tender to build this innovative centre that will be an invaluable education resource creating new opportunities for students and teachers.
“The school currently has almost 700 students and they – as well as future students – will benefit from class activities including coding, designing and building prototypes, building drones, water filtration systems and agriculture science inventions.
“These new modern facilities will set our local kids up for jobs of the future.”
