Brimbank Council has welcomed the State Government’s inclusion of our municipality in the Working for Victoria Community Cleaning Blitz.
From today about 50 people will begin cleaning high pedestrian traffic community spaces around Brimbank several times each day as part of this cleaning blitz. This is an important step towards helping our community feel more comfortable in public spaces which will now be cleaned several times throughout the day, from 7am to 6pm and seven days a week.
The State Government-funded initiative also creates 50 jobs during this unprecedented health emergency that has hit our community hard financially and cost many people their jobs.
This cleaning will continue for four weeks and will be on top of the current cleansing service that the Council has provided throughout the COVID-19 pandemic in our public spaces.
The cleaners will be wearing orange vests and our community will see them cleaning community areas and amenities, including seats, traffic light buttons, bike racks, door handles and objects that are touched frequently by the public.
The initial cleaning focus will be on Brimbank’s main activity centres including shopping strips and community facilities in Sunshine, St Albans, Deer Park, Keilor and Sydenham, with other public areas considered during the four week period.
