Works start at Rix Road Integrated Child and Family Centre

The Rix Road (Officer South) Integrated Child and Family Centre is on track and is expected to be completed by the end of 2021 and ready for kindergarten intake the following year.

The new $7.7million facility, to be located at 7 Campanella Avenue, will be home to three kindergarten program rooms and outdoor play space.

There will also be five consulting rooms for allied health and the shire’s maternal and child health services as well as a community room, staff room, and on-site car parking.

Cardinia Shire Council Deputy Mayor Councillor Jeff Springfield said today’s sod turning event was an exciting day for local families.

“We are continuing to work with the Victorian Government to deliver spaces where our children can learn and develop from birth right the way through to kindergarten,” Cr Springfield said.

Officer Ward Councillor Tammy Radford also expressed her excitement at the new project.

“This will provide a one-stop-shop for our local families.

“It will be home to not only a kindergarten, but also provide families with access to more specialised services.

“We’re a fast-growing community, and this is just one example of the continued collaborative efforts we have with the Victorian Government to continue to improve local facilities for our communities here in the shire” Cr Radford said.

The project is funded by the Victorian Government ($3.5 million) and Cardinia Shire Council ($4.2 million).
