A Worongary man has taken “business as usual” to a whole new level, clocking on for work right after discovering his life-changing $5 million win in last night’s Set for Life draw.
The Gold Coast resident held the only division one winning entry nationally in Set for Life draw 4085, drawn Monday 12 October 2026. His prize totals $5 million, including $200K Right Away and $20,000 every month for the next 20 years.
When we confirmed the annuity prize, the Queenslander was still wrapping his head around the reality of his windfall.
“Thank you very much!” he laughed.
“I saw it this morning and I was in shock. I thought ‘Is that right?’.
“I’m at work right now so I think it’s going to be a bit hard to focus.
“I don’t plan on quitting or anything either. I only started this job a few months ago.
“I’ve already told a friend. I’ve been talking about it with them for 10 years because I’ve been playing since the game started.
“Even though you always hope to win, you know the odds and you don’t think it’ll ever happen to you.”
When asked how he planned to enjoy his newfound fortune, the stunned winner admitted all those years of dreaming suddenly went out the window.
“It’s a weird feeling. You always think about all the things you’d do but then when it happens, your mind goes blank,” he said.
“I honestly think I’ll just save it and set myself up for later down the track.
“The only thing I can think of doing in the near future is going out for dinner to celebrate.
“It’s huge. Thank you!”
His 15-game QuickPick was purchased via The Lott app – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
