Write Out West: Western Sydney Libraries and Literature Festival returns this November for 5 days of author events, panel discussions, workshops, Storytimes, history walks and much more for all ages.
The festival will be held from Wednesday 25 November to Sunday 29 November, with tickets on sale now.
Penrith Mayor Todd Carney said the festival was a great opportunity for literature lovers to learn more from their favourite local authors, illustrators and industry professionals.
“Our Library Services team have worked hard to create an inclusive festival celebrating our local history, culture and literature in the West, with many opportunities for the community to engage with events and programs that they greatly enjoy,” Cr Carney said.
“We’re looking forward to hosting the festival with our local partners, The Joan and Lewers Gallery.”
The Write Out West Festival Penrith program includes 12 events for kids, teens, young adults and families, with some free events and others costing from $5 to $20 per participant.
The festival’s program includes hearing from authors James O’Loghlin and Belinda Alexandra, learning how to write crime with Ashley Kalagian Blunt, panel discussions on rural romance, Western Sydney stories and discovering how to research family history with the Library Services’ Research Services team.
The Write Out West Family Fun Day on Saturday 28 November is a free event that will be hosted in the Mondo outside of The Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre from 10am to 2pm. It’s a great opportunity for families to enjoy the Story Tent with special appearances by beloved children’s authors and illustrators, get creative with book bedazzling, join Messy Makers for sensory play and try drumming workshops with Hands, Heart and Feet.
