Writers, readers and stories… and more at Stonnington Libraries

Our libraries are places that connect writers and readers and where people come together via storytelling events, author talks, writing workshops and book groups, and stacks more.

Share your love of reading at one of our book discussion groups where some groups read a specific book each month, while others are open to talking about whatever you’ve been reading lately.

Read Now Book Club

The Read Now Book Club is a club for readers who wish to read books from our Read Now collection and meet other readers for lively discussion.

Sessions are held throughout the year on selected Tuesdays and Saturdays with the next one on 11 November, 3pm to 4pm at Toorak/South Yarra Library Tuesdays, and 21 November, 6.30pm to 7.30pm at Malvern Library.

In November, Stonnington Libraries also present the following events:

  • Building a sustainable writing practice
  • Novel writing for beginners
  • Sisters under the Rising Sun: Heather Morris in conversation
  • Corrie is interviewing: Rachelle Unreich
  • Pasta Love: talk and pasta-making demo with Jaclyn Crupi
  • Book Chat; and
  • Classic Short Reads Club.

We’re also delighted to host our Stories and Songs in the Square.

Stories help children discover the curious world around them. Nurture your child’s early literacy skills and join us as we read aloud stories and sing action songs and rhymes.

These are suitable for children aged up to five years of age.
