- Cook Labor Government committed to futureproofing WA’s emergency services
A new career fire station in Perth’s fast-growing northern suburbs is one step closer, with ground broken at the site of construction on Yanchep Beach Road today.
The Cook Labor Government has committed $22.7 million for the state-of-the-art facility and an additional 36 full-time firefighters to staff the station.
The new Yanchep Fire Station will strengthen emergency response capabilities across the northern corridor, helping firefighters respond to incidents and providing additional support to existing local volunteer brigades.
Construction is expected to be completed by early 2029.
As stated by Emergency Services Minister Reece Whitby:
“Construction of Yanchep Fire Station meets an important Labor Government election commitment to ensure families and businesses in this fast-growing area are kept safe from a range of hazards.
“The new facility and its additional 36 firefighters will help provide a more efficient emergency response and support existing local volunteer brigades who continue to valiantly serve their communities.
“Yanchep Fire Station will be an important addition to the area’s emergency services response, and I look forward to the benefits it will deliver.”
As stated by Butler MLA Lorna Clarke:
“This new $23 million Yanchep Fire Station is an investment in the community safety of Yanchep, Two Rocks, and surrounding suburbs.
“As each summer brings hotter weather and more bushfires, I’m proud that we are delivering more career firefighters and a fire station for Yanchep and Two Rocks.
“I’m so proud of our career firefighters and our amazing Yanchep and Two Rocks volunteer fire fighting services.”
