Big news for local families: next month we’re unveiling upgraded play spaces in Cremorne, Burnley and Fairfield, all built to meet the growing need for better, more inclusive playgrounds.
Yarra City Council Mayor, Cr Stephen Jolly, says the upgraded playgrounds reflect just how fast the community is growing.
“Last year, we broke records for our Capital Works budget and this year is no different,” he says.
“We’re upgrading more playgrounds and creating more ways for people to play, socialise and walk their dog.”
Here’s what’s opening and when:
1 August – Charles Evans Reserve reopens with a more inclusive play space for multiple ages and abilities, plus more nature‑play elements.
22 August – the playground at Golden Square in Bicentennial Park reopens, reimagined as a more inclusive and community‑centred space for everyone to enjoy.
29 August – Fairfield Park Play Space reopens with improved accessibility, more play for more ages, expanded water play, and new equipment.
