Australia Post is planning a significant restoration and upgrade of its Yass Post Office, cementing the future of a much-loved connection point for locals.
Since the 1880s, the heritage Post Office has been a vital hub for the community. While some deterioration has occurred to the building’s exterior, the Post Office continues to operate and serve the community as usual.
Australia Post is now in the early stages of planning a restoration that will enhance the services locals rely on including parcel delivery, financial services like Bank@Post, identification services and a variety of retail items including core postal products.
To make parcel collection even simpler, free 24/7 Parcel Lockers will be installed – giving locals convenient and secure access to their online purchases. The Parcel Lockers also support returns, allowing customers to drop-off pre-paid packages by following the merchant instructions, providing greater flexibility for busy households.
Australia Post General Manager Retail Operations Sarah Coe, said preserving the Yass Post Office is about investing in the future and respecting its rich history.
“The Yass Post Office has been serving the local community for more than a century, and we’re now focused on its refresh. Restoration work takes careful planning, and we can’t wait to unveil our new, upgraded Post Office.”
The Post Office is open, and Australia Post will provide an update on construction to the community as planning progresses.
