Local Mudgee woman Veronica Baskerville shares her journey from hospital support staff to starting her training as a registered nurse.

Mudgee resident, Veronica Baskerville, first started working at Mudgee Hospital in the kitchen and as a hospital assitant in 2014.
“When I was delivering food, or cleaning I would see the nurses and the way they cared and interacted with the patients.
“It was like I had a lightbulb moment – one day that was something I could do too”. Mrs Baskerville said.
After some major life event delays, Veronica promised herself she would start studying to become a nurse once her youngest child started school
Verionca is an Assistant in Nursing at Mudgee Health Service, and is now completeing her Registered Nurse training.
“I absolutely love it. All those years ago, I was so inspired by the nurses and they way they cared for their patients. I knew then it was something I wanted to do too”.
“To care for someone on this level is just so rewarding. I really love my job and just love caring for people”.
“Being a mature aged student didn’t worry me. I had life experience and skills behind me that I also think help me with the work. I would encourage anyone thinking about it to give it ago.
“I am so happy that I did it, and I am proud to have shown my children what is possible and what you can do”. Mrs Baskerville said.
Mudgee Health Service Manager, Kylie Strong, said, “Veronica, is such an asset to our team. She is driven, passionate and great with our patients”.
