  • The Department of Transport and Main Roads is planning for future upgrades on Maryborough-Hervey Bay Road at Eli Waters.
  • The planning aims to reduce the likelihood of crashes and wait times at peak hours.
  • Community input is being sought to assist with planning intersection upgrades at Maryborough – Hervey Bay Road, Ibis Boulevard and Fairway Drive as well as the Old Maryborough Road and Boat Harbour Drive roundabout.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is undertaking planning to improve safety and efficiency for motorists and pedestrians on Maryborough-Hervey Bay Road at the intersections of Ibis Boulevard and Fairway Drive, and the Old Maryborough Road / Boat Harbour Drive roundabout.

Transport and Main Roads Minister and Minister for Digital Services Mark Bailey MP said early investigations had identified a possible solution, however community input was needed to understand the community’s main issues and priorities for this busy road.

TMR will commence consultation with local residents, landowners and businesses to gather feedback which will be considered in developing a preferred upgrade option. In early 2024, TMR will consult again on a preferred option once determined.

The planning currently being undertaken will enable TMR to develop a cost estimate and allow the proposed upgrade to be considered as part of future reviews of the transport infrastructure program.
