The community is being encouraged to provide its feedback on a concept proposal for a mixed-use tourism and residential development in Lake Macquarie.
NSW Department of Planning and Environment’s Executive Director of Key Sites Anthea Sargeant said Johnson Property Group’s application seeks concept approval for six buildings up to eight storeys (42 metres) high, at Trinity Point Drive, Morisset Park.
The proposal includes:
- A 218-room hotel and six serviced apartments;
- 180 residential apartments;
- A 300-seat function centre;
- Two restaurants, a wellness centre, commercial space and retail shops;
- Landscaping; and
- 614 basement car parking spaces.
Ms Sargeant said if approved, further development applications would be required for detailed building design and construction for the State Significant Development.
“The public’s views will be essential to the concept proposal’s assessment, so it’s important people take the time to provide us with their feedback through the Department’s planning portal website by Friday 16 December 2022,” she said.
“The applicant will be required to respond to any issues raised by the community before we can undertake a rigorous and comprehensive assessment.”
The Department will then assess the project against the requirements of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and other legislation.

Separately, the applicant has also lodged a planning proposal with Lake Macquarie City Council, seeking to change local planning rules relating to the site to enable the development, such as maximum building heights.
The planning proposal is open for public exhibition on Lake Macquarie City Council’s website until Friday, 16 December 2022.
