Young Local Artists To Debut New Tracks And Docos

GRID Series is throwing a big party at the Geelong Arts Centre on Wednesday April 17 to celebrate the release of the new songs and films by Baraka The Kid, Wild Gloriosa, Ridzyray, Daisy Kilbourne and LENNi, created as part of GRID Series Geelong.

The night will feature live performances by all five artists who over the last six months have undergone intensive industry mentoring from industry stalwarts Rich Moffat (Splendour In The Grass, Groovin The Moo) and Jerry Poon (The Operatives), media training from publicist Monique Matosic (Broken Leg PR) and studio recording sessions with producers Joelistics (Mo’Ju, Haiku Hands), Becki Whitton and Ariel Blum (St Ives, NIASHA) to create their new releases, out on Friday 12 April on all streaming platforms.

In support of their new releases, this event will also be premiering documentaries about each of the artists. The documentaries, directed by Paul Huynh, Nick Rae, Emily Seif and Sam Biddle will give the audiences a closer, more intimate lens into the world of each artist, deep diving into their personal stories, their challenges, their motivations and their dedication to their craft.

All My Life – Baraka The Kid

With the goal of leaving a legacy to his younger siblings and community, Baraka The Kid takes a leap of faith from his hard earned career to pursue his dreams and aims to inspire others to follow their hearts.

Lover Girl – Wild Gloriosa

Wild Gloriosa invites us into her intuitive journey as an artist, sharing her reflections on how music creates a reciprocal space to honour her authenticity, embrace vulnerability and celebrate the romances of life. Her words encourage listeners to step into their own light and boldly trust ourselves along the way.

Light Shine – Ridzyray

Recounting his battle with depression and brush with death, Ridzyray draws from his ancestry and life philosophies to heal and inject positivity into his art. His new found outlook paves the way for listeners to practice self-compassion and shine their truest light.

Father – Daisy Kilbourne

In a letter to her late father, Daisy Kilbourne recounts her journey from her hometown of Daylesford to Geelong and celebrates their shared history, passion for music and zest for life. We walk with her down memory lane in an intersection of loss, love and legacy.

Leave It To Me – LENNi

As the youngest in a family of high achievers, LENNi finds herself striving for greatness through her passion for music. With the motivation and support of her brothers, the film chronicles her artistic journey to find and step into her authentic self.
