Your good turn could net big returns

Could you be our next volunteer superstar?

Council is seeking friendly, outgoing individuals who can commit one day per week or fortnight to assist with our Social Support Programs. The initiatives assist those at risk of social isolation to remain independent, active members of our community.

The only requirement is a passion to engage with and care for others!

Volunteers are needed for both in-house roles at Kerrabee and driver roles to help with monthly, fortnightly and weekly programs, including to venues such as the Croydon library and Eastland shopping centre. By enhancing the social experience for senior participants, many who have limited access to transportation, you will make an enormously positive difference to people’s lives.

Senior residents of Maroondah attending the programs enjoy the group environment and the chance to interact with others and the volunteers.

Mayor of Maroondah, Councillor Kylie Spears said volunteers often get back as much as they give.

“Volunteering has so many benefits, such as increasing your own self-confidence and wellbeing, all while having a positive impact on your community,” Cr Spears said.

“Doing a good turn for others can give you a great sense of achievement and help you to feel more connected.”

Within Maroondah, Cr Spears said our volunteers are highly valued and receive plenty of support from their peers.
