Youth Arrested On Warrant For Serious Offending

Tasmania Police’s Taskforce Saturate continues to target repeat offenders with the aim of making our community safer.

Inspector John Toohey said a 14-year-old boy was arrested on an outstanding warrant yesterday after he failed to appear in the Hobart Youth Justice Court earlier this month.

“The alleged charges before the court include stealing with force, aggravated armed robbery, unlawfully setting fire to property, stealing, possess a controlled drug, unlawfully possess a dangerous article in a public place, trespass, breach of bail, strike a person with an offensive weapon with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and fail to appear.”

“He has been remanded to appear in the Hobart Youth Justice Court today.”

“Tasmania Police will continue to prioritise the safety and security of our community and where appropriate, necessary and authorised by law, we will be charging those who offend, and putting them before a Magistrate.”

“Our community deserves to feel safe at home, out in public and in their workplaces.”

“Taskforce Saturate remains committed to its ongoing efforts to reduce recidivism and enhance community safety”, he said.

Anyone who witnesses illegal or anti-social behaviour should report it to police on 131 444 or triple-zero (000) in an emergency.
