Youth Charged Re Stealing Offences Glenorchy

Members of Tasmania Police’s Operation Respect have charged a 17-year-old youth following investigations into a series of stealing offences across the Glenorchy area.

The youth was arrested and charged in relation to an attempted stealing with force at a bottle shop in Glenorchy, and a stealing offence at a bottle shop in Claremont last night.

Further investigations conducted by Operation Respect identified the youth as also having committed other stealing offences across the Glenorchy area over a four-month period.

It is alleged the offending resulted in the theft of property and goods with an estimated value in excess of $15,000.

The youth was charged with:

• 10 x Stealing

• 1 x Attempted Stealing with Force

• 12 x Relevant Contraventions

The youth was bailed to appear before the Youth Justice Division of the Hobart Magistrates Court at a later date.

Operation Respect – with a focus on targeting anti-social behaviour and recidivist offending in the Glenorchy area – remains committed to identifying and apprehending offenders whose actions impact the safety, security and wellbeing of the local community.
