The 40th Anniversary of the Alice Springs Masters Games kicks off in just 100 days, with its biggest program ever.Running from 10-17 October 2026, the Games feature new initiatives including a midweek street party, an expanded golf competition, and new sports like Pickleball.Finocchiaro CLP Government is backing local, sport, and major events in Central Australia as we grow our visitor economy and restore our Territory lifestyle.
Athletes and Alice Springs locals have kickstarted the countdown as the 40th Anniversary of the Alice Springs Masters Games begins in just 100 days’ time.
With more than 25 sports, a jam-packed entertainment program featuring Baby Animals, Choirboys and Shannon Noll, and the debut of the world’s fastest-growing sport, Pickleball, the Games are set to be the best yet.
Minister for Tourism and Hospitality and Minister for Major Events, Marie-Clare Boothby, said the Alice Springs Masters Games were one of the Territory’s premier sporting events – putting the Red Centre on show in a boost for local tourism, hospitality venues, and businesses.
“Our government is proud to get behind ‘The Friendly Games’ because it captures everything that we love in the Territory – good sport, great people, that classic Red Centre hospitality, and this year, a street party like no other!”
“We’re backing local, sport and major events like this because they bring Territorians together, they support local businesses, and they raise the profile of the Territory as the best place to live, work, visit, and invest.
“With 100 days to go, now is the time to register, book your trip and be part of this milestone celebration – and competition.”
Member for Namatjira, Bill Yan, said the Alice Springs Masters Games were another opportunity to showcase everything Central Australia has to offer.
“The Alice Springs Masters Games are a fantastic showcase of Territory hospitality and the unique spirit of Central Australia. They deliver real benefits for businesses in the region, and they give locals and visitors yet another reason to enjoy the Territory’s unique lifestyle.”
Games Ambassador, Nathan Buckley, and Games Patron, Dawn Fraser, continue to support the event as the Royal Flying Doctor Service becomes the official charity partner for 2026.
Dion Temu-Evans is an entrant in the inaugural Pickleball contest, and has been patient of the lifesaving work of the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
“I’m absolutely pumped to be competing in the Alice Springs Masters Games and playing in the debut of Pickleball. It’s such a fun, fast and welcoming sport, anyone can give it a go, and that’s what makes the Games so special,” Temu-Evans said.
“I’ve also been a patient of the Royal Flying Doctor Service in the past, so being able to come back healthy, active, and part of this incredible community event means a lot to me. The Friendly Games really do bring people together, and I can’t wait to be part of it.”
