Best in class: Ainsworth4Foundation philanthropy caps off Dry July

A new collaboration between PCFA and the Ainsworth4Foundation has resulted in and additional $100,000 raised on the final day of Dry July for 2023.

The Foundation, guided by Paul and Valeria Ainsworth, generously agreed to match all donations up to the value of $50k for the last day of this year’s Dry July campaign, doubling funding for major beneficiaries.

Chief Executive of PCFA, Anne Savage, commended Paul and Valeria Ainsworth for the Foundation’s remarkable contribution.

“For nearly two decades the Ainsworth4Foundation has made a tremendous difference to our work, funding life-saving research, awareness, and support.

“This new collaboration continues our long-standing friendship, working together to identify new ways of championing awareness and support for Australian men and families impacted by prostate cancer.

“We are truly grateful to Paul and Valeria Ainsworth for sharing their ideas and getting involved to make a meaningful difference in the lives of men and their partners.”

The matching kicked off at 10am yesterday, with hundreds of supporters taking up the opportunity to make a donation.

Campaigner Rick Bennett, who was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2019, thanked the Ainsworth4Foundation for its support.

“I was lucky to have a proactive GP who started testing me at 40 – when my PSA started rising we got the diagnosis. It was low risk at the time, but then started to spread,” he says.

“Recovery from surgery hasn’t been as straightforward as I had hoped it would be, but nearly one year on and I’ve turned a big corner.

“I’ve had some big highs and lows. By far and away the greatest high was celebrating the news with my wife Linda and our two sons that my PSA is now zero.

“The love and strength of my family has carried me through – every day I fight is for them. My message for other men out there is that we only get one shot at life, so please get checked. It’s really simple – be invested and get tested.

“My diagnosis has given me a greater appreciation of what love and family are all about.

“Having the support of PCFA and the Ainsworth4Foundation for the Dry July campaign makes a big difference – zero was my hero during July and capping it off with double donations was a great way to finish the campaign.”
