The Minns Labor Government is investing $131 million over the next decade to build and operate a new Incident Response Facility at Luddenham, putting trained crews on the ground to respond rapidly to crashes, breakdowns and traffic incidents.
The facility will be based in Luddenham with 68 staff, including 48 permanently based on-site and additional personnel managing control room operations. It will be operational from the moment Western Sydney International Airport opens its doors to passengers later this year.
One of the key roads serviced by the facility will be the new M12 Motorway, with crews also supporting motorists on The Northern Road, Mulgoa Road, Elizabeth Drive, Fifteenth Avenue and Badgerys Creek Road, as well as other roads throughout the airport precinct.
The precinct covered by the facility spans more than 11,200 hectares and is expected to become a major economic hub for New South Wales in the decades ahead.
The new facility will also create local jobs, with 68 positions supported through the operation, including 48 staff based at Luddenham and additional personnel supporting control room activities.
The investment comes as Western Sydney continues to experience significant growth. By 2041, the airport precinct is expected to support around 11,400 new homes, create 100,000 jobs and facilitate the movement of 41 million tonnes of freight.
The Minns Labor Government is delivering the infrastructure needed to support this growth, ensuring communities in Western Sydney benefit from safer roads, better transport connections and the jobs and opportunities created by the new airport.
The project is being delivered in stages. Stage 1, which included establishing the site and enabling works, has now been completed. Stage 2 will deliver the new Incident Response Facility, including construction of the depot, a 38-space car park, fencing and landscaping.

“When incidents happen, every minute counts. This facility puts dedicated crews right at the doorstep of the airport and its key transport corridors, so they can get to a breakdown, crash or debris on the road fast.
“Faster response times mean safer journeys for motorists, fewer delays for commuters, and freight keeping to schedule.
“As Western Sydney grows, we’re backing that growth with the people, equipment and infrastructure needed to keep our roads safe, reliable and efficient.”
