$2 Million Immediate Resilience Plan: Business Events Support Fund Incentive Doubles Attraction

The Territory Labor Government has doubled its incentive to secure more business events for the Northern Territory as part of the $2 Million Immediate Tourism Resilience Plan to support the tourism industry and local jobs.

Business events planners or organisations, at the consideration or bidding stage, can apply for financial assistance of $200 per delegate for eligible applications received by 31 May 2020 for business events staged by 30 June 2021.

To date, the Turbocharging Tourism Business Events Support Fund has secured 56 business events to 2022. It is anticipated 17 300 delegates will generate an estimated $40.44 million delegate expenditure – a direct boost to our economy meaning more local jobs.

This is an attractive incentive to help promote the Territory as a key destination for staging national business events and supports Business Events Australia’s #eventherethisyear campaign, which urges organisations to hold their business events at home this year rather than abroad as part of the National Bushfire Recovery effort.

The boosted offer was a key message for the Northern Territory during the 2020 Asia Pacific Incentives Meetings Event (AIME) held in Melbourne last week.
