200kg of cannabis seized in Cairnlea

Detectives from Joint Task Force Icarus, Organised Crime Division and Brimbank DRU have arrested two people and seized a large quantity of cannabis in relation to an ongoing investigation.

Investigators executed a search warrant at a residence in Blackwood Court, Cairnlea on 11 May in relation to the investigation into the cultivation of and trafficking of large commercial quantities of cannabis.

Approximately 200kg of cannabis was seized.

A 43-year-old Cairnlea man and 40-year-old Cairnlea woman were arrested at the scene and have been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 12 May.

Taskforce Icarus is a joint agency initiative involving Victoria Police, Australian Border Force, Australian Federal Police, and the Department of Home Affairs that targets those who seek to use the international mail and air cargo systems for criminal activity.
