Nominations for Mildura Rural City Council’s 2020 Youth Awards are now open, providing a chance to see amazing young people in our region recognised for their efforts and achievements.

The awards are designed to highlight the contributions young people aged 12 to 25 make in our community.

Nominations can be made up until Friday 13 March.

Councillor for Community Wellbeing and Services Gavin Sedgmen encouraged residents to nominate young people they believe are worthy of recognition.

“We have young people in our region doing amazing things all the time, however they often go unnoticed,” Cr Sedgmen said.

“Our Youth Awards are a chance for us to highlight their efforts to the broader community, which not only provides worthy recognition of their achievements, but could inspire other young people to do the same.”

Council has added a new referral nomination option this year for people short on time.

Residents are able to refer someone who knows or has knowledge of a young person’s background to help with the nomination process.

Council’s Youth Services Team will make contact with the referee and collect the required information needed for the nomination.

Residents can also directly nominate someone.
