The Crisafulli Government is delivering cost of living relief families can rely on and giving more young Queenslanders the opportunity to learn to swim, with applications now open for Play On! Learn to Swim vouchers.

Eligible parents, carers and guardians can apply for one voucher worth up to $150 per child aged 0 to 4 each financial year to help alleviate the cost of swimming lessons with a registered Play On! Learn to Swim provider.

The vouchers are helping to remove cost barriers for Queensland families and giving more children the opportunity to build confidence in the water and develop important water safety skills from an early age.

Last financial year saw more than 7,500 vouchers redeemed to help young Queenslanders learn to swim with 40 per cent of them used in regional Queensland.

The program is an important component of Queensland Spirit: The Road to 2032, a strategy designed to deliver a sporting legacy for Queensland.

The Crisafulli Government is delivering cost of living relief Queenslanders can rely on and investing in grassroots sport after a decade of decline under Labor.

Minister for Sport and Racing and Minister for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tim Mander said the Crisafulli Government was backing Queensland families by helping ease the cost of swimming lessons.

“We know cost of living is a real concern for Queensland families, and we don’t want cost to be a barrier to children learning these important skills,” Minister Mander said.

“Swimming is an important part of Queensland’s lifestyle, and this is about giving more young Queenslanders an early start in the pool so they can build confidence and develop important water safety skills.

“From the city to the country, we want more Queensland families to have the opportunity to get their little ones into swimming lessons.”
