The Cook Labor Government has opened Round 9 of its Regional Economic Development (RED) Grants program, making $5 million available for projects across regional Western Australia to drive economic diversification, create local jobs and support sustainable regional growth.

Funding is now available for locally driven projects that strengthen local employment, expand or diversify industry, develop skills, increase business productivity, or attract new investment to the regions.

More than $65 million has been invested over 12 years towards the RED Grants program to stimulate economic growth and development in regional Western Australia.

Applications for Round 9 are now open and close on 14 January 2027. More program information, including guidelines and application details, is available at www.dpird.wa.gov.au/REDs .

The program is delivered by the State’s nine Regional Development Commissions, with support from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development.

As stated by Regional Development Minister Stephen Dawson:

“The Cook Labor Government is committed to investing in locally driven projects that support efforts to drive long-term economic growth and create jobs in our regions.

“RED Grants help deliver lasting economic outcomes and employment opportunities for regional communities.

“Since 2018, the program has supported 470 projects totalling $50.3 million, focused on industry development and expansion, growth in Aboriginal enterprises, agricultural diversification and tourism expansion.

“I encourage regional businesses and community members to put forward innovative local projects that RED grants funding could help deliver, creating positive outcomes for their economy and community.”
