$27 million of drugs seized in drug trafficking operation, Gold Coast

Detectives from Brisbane Major and Organised Crime Squad have charged a 30-year-old man with six offences and seized more than $27 million of dangerous drugs, as part of Operation Victor Concede.

The operation was established in October to target the alleged supply and distribution of illicit drugs across the Gold Coast and southeast.

On Monday and Tuesday, October 23 and 24, search warrants were executed two properties in Bundall and Surfers Paradise.

As a result, police allegedly seized approximately 27.17 kilograms of a methylamphetamine and around $20,000 in cash.

The dangerous drugs have a total estimated value of $27 million.

A 30-year-old Surfers Paradise man was taken into custody during the search at Surfers Paradise on October 24.

He has been charged with two counts of possessing dangerous drugs (methylamphetamine), and one count each of possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence (cash), possessing anything used in the commission of crime, possess utensils (hand grinder), and contravening order about information necessary to access information stored electronically.

He appeared at Southport Magistrates Court on October 25 where he was remanded in custody until November 8.

“This is a significant outcome in the context of the harm caused to the local community by this alleged criminal syndicate,” Detective Acting Inspector Joyce said.

“We remain committed to disrupting serious and organised crime and ask the public to continue assisting us by providing any information regarding drug supply in their community.”
