31 unregistered firearms seized, man charged at Adelong, NSW

A man has been arrested over a large number of firearms offences in the state’s Riverina region.

As a result of information received, about 2pm yesterday (Friday 2 August 2019), officers from Riverina Police District executed a search warrant at a home on Reka Road, Adelong.

Inside the home, officers allegedly located 30 unregistered long arm firearms, as well as an unregistered pistol and a can of OC spray.

Thousands of rounds of ammunition were also seized from the home. Twelve registered firearms belonging to the occupant were also seized.

The 57-year-old man was arrested and taken to Tumut Police Station, where he was charged with holder of category A or B licence not have approved storage, possess over three unregistered firearms – one is prohibited pistol, possess shortened firearms (not pistol) without authority, possess unauthorised pistol, and possess unauthorised prohibited firearm.

He is expected to appear at Wagga Wagga Bail Court today (Saturday 3 August 2019).
