Food relief networks, emergency services, and disability and carer organisations are among those to share in $378,000 from Council’s annual Community Development Fund grants program.
A total of 37 grants have been awarded under the 2024-25 round. Grants will support locally-focused, not-for-profit organisations to provide community activities and initiatives that benefit Knox residents. Up to 92,000 residents will benefit as a result of the programs, events and equipment funded.
Council saw a greater need from applicants this year, which is thought to be because of the rising cost of delivering services and increasing demand for food relief providers.
Many worthy and recognisable local organisations will receive funding, including Riding for the Disabled, Foothills Community Care, Rotary Club of Ferntree Gully, Feed One Feed All, Knox Infolink and Community Support Knox, Yarra Ranges and Surrounds (Ben’s Place).
Grants will benefit a diverse range of community groups, supporting music, art, theatre, sport, children’s play and programs for young people and seniors.
Over the past five years, this Council grants program has provided over $1.9 million to community organisations.
