- Cook Labor Government continues its commitment to reduce smoking and vaping in WA

The Cook Labor Government has committed more than $4.4 million to continue helping people to quit or avoid taking up smoking or vaping.
The funding helps Cancer Council WA run high-impact programs and multimedia public education campaigns, such as Make Smoking History’s ‘Sounds Like’ and the youthfocused Clear the Air, with public education campaigns rolling out through 2026 and 2027.
For more than two decades, Healthway and the Department of Health have supported Make Smoking History. Healthway has also supported Clear the Air since its inception in 2023.
Both campaigns have evolved over time to meet emerging public health challenges. They provide Western Australians with the information, motivation, and support they need to quit smoking and vaping, prevent uptake among young people, and create healthier environments across the State.
As part of this latest investment, Cancer Council WA will also:
- strengthen the capacity of health professionals and the community services sector to provide quit support; and
- prioritise young people by scaling up vaping prevention and cessation support efforts across the youth sector.
