500 Drones To Salute Summer In City

  • Final City of Light Shows running Saturday 24 February and Sunday 25 February
  • 500 drones and fireworks set to light up Elizabeth Quay
  • The City is running a total of six shows between November 2023 and February 2024.

A symphony of drones and music will light up Elizabeth Quay this weekend in the final instalment of the City of Light Show series, proudly presented by Lotterywest.

City of Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said 500 drones will take to the sky to wow the people of Perth and close out a record summer of events in the City.

“As a fitting finale to our biggest summer season yet, our final two Lotterywest City of Light Shows will fill the sky with drones to prove that no city lights up like Perth,” Mr Zempilas said.

“The City of Light Show series will conclude with two light shows on 24 and 25 February – the perfect way to spend a summer night in the City,” he said.

Families are encouraged to head to Elizabeth Quay from 5pm to enjoy food trucks and roving entertainment – the kids can try out the hula-hoop workshop and cool off in the waterpark. Crowds can enjoy a range of amusement rides and try their luck at sideshow alley.

“I am so proud of how we’ve lit up the City this summer with a thriving events calendar, Perth has been buzzing with record crowds and spend outcomes. The grand finale this weekend is the perfect way to end our City of Light Show series on a high, bringing the very best entertainment free, right here in the city.

“Summer may be winding down, but the City events calendar is still cranking up. With Perth Festival in full swing and the Lotterywest Boorloo Heritage Festival just around the corner, there’s plenty for everyone to enjoy in the City year-round.

“And don’t forget, you can still grab a quick and easy dinner every Friday night at the Twilight Food Markets in Forrest Place, which is running through to 5 April,” Mr Zempilas said.
