7kg MDMA, $40,000 cash seized in Hinchinbrook

Police have seized more than 7kg of MDMA and $40,000 cash as they continue to investigate a shooting and assault at Hinchinbrook yesterday.

Officers from Liverpool City police Area Command were called to a home on Albatross Avenue about 5am (Sunday 12 January 2020), and found one man with a gunshot wound to his left leg, and a second man seriously assaulted.

Both men were taken to Liverpool Hospital and a crime scene was established at the location.

When a crime scene warrant was executed at the premises about 6.30pm, police found 7kg of MDMA, cocaine, LSD and 2.8kg of cannabis.

They also found about $40,000 cash, an electronic stun device, an extendable baton and assorted prescribed restricted substances.

A 24-year-old Ashcroft man has been charged with two counts of possess prohibited weapon, and possess prohibited drug.

He’s been granted conditional bail to appear in Liverpool Local Court on Thursday 20 February 2020.

The second man, also aged 24, remains in hospital undergoing treatment for a gunshot wound.

Detectives hope to speak with the man as soon as he is deemed fit.
