Abetz circles TAFE for more cuts
Tasmania’s future received a hammer blow earlier this year when the Liberals’ secret plans to cut $45 million from TasTAFE and sack at least 50 workers were exposed.
Now, new documents have revealed that Eric Abetz is hell bent on gutting the institution that trains tradies, health workers, carers and educators even further.
A tender document shows the Government is paying KPMG nearly $100,000 for a “TasTAFE Cost Review”.
TasTAFE has already been reduced to a shell after being tasked with finding $45 million worth of cuts to pay for 13 years of Liberal waste.
The Liberals are already decimating courses, threatening jobs, and undermining Tasmania’s skills pipeline. Now, Eric Abetz wants to pick over what’s left like a vulture.
Tasmania needs more tradies, more educators and more health workers and we need TasTAFE to train them.
The Liberals have squeezed all they can out of TAFE to pay for 13 years of waste, and Eric Abetz needs to keep his hands of it so we can train the workforce Tasmania needs.
