Planned improvements to the walking trails in John Oxley Reserve, Kirkham will aim to provide greater access to the picturesque views of the Camden valley and the Great Dividing Range.
Camden Council has developed a draft concept plan for the future of the site, which is now publicly available for comment.
The $360,000 project was identified in the Camden Green and Blue Grid Vision and is funded through the NSW Government’s Places to Roam program. It aims to improve community wellbeing and connect people to the landscape.
The proposed trail leads to a number of vantage points with a view of the Camden area and beyond.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Ashleigh Cagney said she was eager to see what the community thought of the plan.
“This is a very exciting draft concept plan and I encourage everyone to check it out and share their thoughts,” she said.
“It will provide a great opportunity for people to enjoy some fresh air while getting some great views of the beautiful landscape around us.”
For those looking for further information, Camden Council will host a drop-in session on Thursday 24 August from 3.30-5.30pm near the entrance to John Oxley Reserve on The Lanes in Kirkham.
Construction on the project is expected to start in January 2024. The draft plan is open for feedback until 30 August.
