Accessible beach days are back this summer

Glenelg Beach will host six accessible beach days this summer, starting this December and running into March next year.

Council is working with ParaQuad SA (PQSA) to host the beach days and will provide 50-metres of beach matting from the foreshore to the water, to provide access for wheelchair users and people with mobility difficulties.

There will also be beach wheelchairs available to use on the days and the Mobi-chair floating wheelchair. PQSA volunteers will be on hand throughout the day to provide support.

The six accessible beach days will be held between 10am – 2pm on the following dates:

  • Saturday 16 December 2023
  • Sunday 7 January 2024
  • Saturday 20 January 2024
  • Saturday 3 February 2024
  • Sunday 18 February 2024
  • Sunday 10 March 2024

The access point can be found north of the Glenelg Jetty, providing entry to Glenelg Beach, which will be made fully wheelchair accessible.

As with the previous accessible beach days held over the past two summers, the beach-mat is accessible to everyone, including members of the public and people attending the events.

The beach wheelchairs and Mobi-chair floating wheelchair are free to use and bookings are recommended.
