ACT Woman of Year: Kelli-Ann Jackson

Kelli-Ann Jackson has been named the 2022 ACT Woman of the Year – for her work as leader of Women’s Adventure ACT.

Women’s Adventure ACT is a volunteer-led and community-organised group, aiming to keep the outdoors accessible, safe and available to women and gender-diverse people of all backgrounds – boosting their knowledge, skills, safety-awareness, fitness and confidence.

Kelli was one of the early members of Women’s Adventure ACT and took on its leadership in 2018. The group has grown to nearly 4-thousand members, holding hundreds of events each year. These include short walks at the National Arboretum, bush-foraging and weaving workshops led by local Aboriginal educators and sea kayaking trips in Far North Queensland.

In addition to organising and leading events herself, Kelli helps other group volunteers build the skills and confidence they need to lead group activities.

Congratulations also to Asha Clementi – who was named the 2022 ACT Young Woman of the Year.

Asha is founder of ‘Girls Run The World’ and co-founder of ‘The Girls Leadership Network’ – inspiring young women to pursue their leadership dreams and engage in diplomacy.

Finally, Lee-Anne Daley was named the 2022 ACT Senior Woman of the Year.

Lee-Anne Daley is a Wiradjuri woman, working with parents, carers, aunties and grandmothers of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls – to share cultural knowledge and build links within the community.

“Congratulations to all the nominees in the 2022 ACT Women’s Awards for their outstanding contributions to our community,” said Minister for Women, Yvette Berry.

“Our three winners are all incredible individuals and wonderful examples of the strength, passion and dedication so many Canberran women share.”
