Action on Friendlies Pedestrian Bridge

Work on the Friendlies Pedestrian Bridge, near Gobur St in Euroa is starting this week.

The $395,000 project is funded by Strathbogie Shire Council and the Victorian Government.

It’s a long-awaited project for Strathbogie Shire residents and comes after strong lobbying from Council and the community.

“This is a huge win for the Euroa community,” Cr John Mason said.

“It comes after years of lobbying from locals who now have to go the ‘long-way-round’ or balance across an old log to cross the creek.”

Cr Mick Williams said the new bridge would link key sporting facilities in the town and create new pathways for events like the Euroa Parkrun.

“The new pedestrian bridge will provide another crossing along the 6.8km-long Seven Creeks walking track,” Cr Williams said.

Strathbogie Shire Mayor Cr Amanda McClaren thanked the Victorian Government for committing funding to the project.

“Projects such as the Friendlies Pedestrian Bridge continue to expand the connectivity of our tracks and trails, further encouraging our community to get out and enjoy our beautiful Shire environment, Cr McClaren said.

Council will keep the community updated as the project progresses.
