Actress Jessica Redmayne gets set to MC Western Sydney Memory Walk & Jog

Star of Channel Seven drama 800 Words and former Hi-5 member Jessica Redmayne is gearing up to host the 2019 Western Sydney Memory Walk & Jog.

Jessica will be swapping her joggers for the mic when she steps up for her inaugural turn as Master of Ceremonies at the event on Sunday 7 April 2019, at Tench Reserve, Tench Ave, Jamisontown.

Jessica said her enthusiasm for supporting the event comes from having a first-hand understanding of the impact a diagnosis of dementia can have on a family.

“I am honoured to be a part of supporting the Western Sydney Memory Walk & Jog, and helping to raise funds and more importantly awareness around dementia and the great work of Dementia Australia within the region,” Ms Redmayne said.

“I first became aware of Dementia Australia and the essential services they provide when my mother Christine was diagnosed with younger onset dementia in 2014 at the age of just 59.

“The organisation has been so supportive of us throughout this journey, and I want to do my bit to help make sure Dementia Australia can continue to provide this support to families in similar circumstances.

“The Memory Walk & Jog series of events is not only Dementia Australia’s largest fundraiser, but provides you and your family with an entertaining and active start to your day, in a beautiful location,” Ms Redmayne said.

Memory Walk & Jog raises much-needed funds to support the work of Dementia Australia, which provides invaluable support, education and resources for people living with dementia in Australia, their carers, families and friends.

This year, participants can choose to take part in a 2km or 8km walk, jog or run and are invited to help reach the $140,000 fundraising target. All funds raised will benefit Dementia Australia services in Western Sydney.

Memory Walk & Jog is a fun event for all ages. The course is family-friendly, and, no matter your age or level of fitness, everyone is encouraged to participate and join in the fun.

There will be prizes for the top fundraisers, as well as raffles, plenty of entertainment, food stalls, and a special guest appearance from Memory Walk & Jog mascot, Al the Elephant.

Registration is now open for Western Sydney Memory Walk & Jog. Register today for Dementia Australia’s biggest fundraiser of the year at www.memorywalk.com.au
