Additional charges after allegedly filming in court – Heckenberg fatal crash

A woman – charged in relation to a fatal crash at Heckenberg earlier this month – has been charged with an additional offence after allegedly filming inside a courtroom.

About 9.20pm on Friday 1 September 2023, emergency services were called to Sadleir Avenue, Heckenberg, following reports of a multi-vehicle crash.

A Mercedes and a Toyota Echo reportedly collided head-on, before the Mercedes hit a Toyota Rav4 and flipped on its side.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the driver of the Echo, a 24-year-old woman, and her 15-year-old male passenger; however, they both died at the scene.

The two occupants of the Rav4 were not injured, while the occupants of the Mercedes allegedly left the scene.

Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

During the course of the investigation, five people – three men, aged 20, 21, and 61, and two women, aged 20, and 22 – have been charged and remain before the courts.

Following further investigations, police attended a Cecil Park address yesterday (Sunday 24 September 2023) where a 22-year-old woman was issued a court attendance notice for the offence use recording device in court premises.

Police will allege in court the woman filmed part of a court hearing of one of the people charged in relation to the incident.

The woman was issued an additional court attendance notice for 31 unrelated offences including:

– Drive with child between 6-months and 4-years-old not restrained

– Drive vehicle under influence of alcohol

– P1 driver exceed speed greater than 20 km/h – Estimated
