Adelaide to turn red, gold and blue to support Crows

The City of Adelaide will light up in the Crows’ famous red, gold and blue to show its support for Adelaide’s AFLW Premiership decider.

The Crows host Brisbane at Adelaide Oval on Saturday afternoon, which will be the second time the city has hosted the AFLW Grand Final.

To celebrate the occasion, the City of Adelaide will be imposing giant images of the Crows AFLW players onto the façade of Adelaide Town Hall.

Lord Mayor Sandy Verschoor is throwing her support behind the successful club.

“We want this city painted red, gold and blue, so to celebrate we will be lighting up Town Hall in the famous colours and showcasing a rotation of players on the building,” the Lord Mayor said.

“We are working with the State Government to illuminate the footbridge, railway station, various fountains and squares to show our support.

“The Crows AFLW team has been incredibly successful in the women’s competition. We can’t wait to see them fight for another flag on Saturday and I encourage everyone to get behind them.

“Going for their third Premiership in five years is an incredible accomplishment and we are proud to host another AFLW decider.”

Adelaide Oval played host to the Crows memorable 2019 Premiership triumph, where a crowd of more than 53,000 spectators created an amazing event.

With 40,000 people able to attend Saturday’s decider, the Lord Mayor is urging people to celebrate the grand occasion.

“The State Government is offering free public transport for anyone attending the Grand Final, so I encourage everyone to make a day of it in the city.

“What a fantastic opportunity to fill the bars and restaurants in Adelaide with thousands of passionate supporters decked out in the team’s colours.”

The match starts at 1:30pm.
