AFUEE Japan 2019 event and insight report

The Australian Future Unlimited Education Exhibition (AFUEE) is Austrade’s flagship education event in Japan, held in Tokyo and Osaka. This report collects data and insights from the exhibition in addition to exhibitor and visitor feedback. Potential dates for AFUEE 2020 are also included.

Now in its sixth year (second year in Osaka), Austrade has made continuous improvements to AFUEE Japan to ensure it remains a highly valued event for Australian organisations invested in the Japanese market to recruit quality students and establish new partnerships. AFUEE Japan attracted 1,613 visitors (1,117 for Tokyo and 496 for Osaka) in 2019, an increase of 22% compared to the previous year.

To attract “quality” students who are committed to studying in Australia to AFUEE, Austrade focused on driving more traffic to the event website (afuee.jp) to ensure visitors gained a better understanding of the purpose of the event, the education system and sectors, and each institution’s profile prior to attending the exhibition.

The number of pageviews on the event website reached 83,593, 23% (15,560) higher than the previous year. Also, the conversion (pre-registration) rate of the site-visitors increased by 12% from the previous year. As a result, the number of pre-registrations increased to 1,483 with noticeably a 25% increase for Tokyo compared to the previous year.

The most frequently visited pages on the event website were on scholarships and incentives, institution profiles and seminars. Newly developed pages providing information on each sector were also one of the most viewed sections.
