Detectives from the Tablelands Criminal Investigation Branch are investigating the suspicious death of a 74-year-old woman at Upper Barron on 24 July.
Police and emergency services attended the Upper Barron Road address and found the lady unresponsive.
A 76-year-old man was also found in the house and was suffering from injuries himself, however the woman was pronounced deceased.
The man was taken to the Atherton Hospital before being transferred to the Cairns Hospital, where he was treated for injuries and later discharged.
He was charged with one count of aiding in a suicide and is expected to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today (26 July).
