All aboard for guided tours of Bagtown and Beyond

Whether you’re a local with a passion for history, or a visitor eager to learn about Griffith’s unique cultural beginnings, the newly introduced In Their Tracks -Train Tours of Bagtown and Beyond is the perfect way to spend a Sunday.

Griffith Pioneer Park Museum is now offering guided museum tours on the first Sunday of every month, with the next tour date set down for 2, June 2019 at 11am.

Hop aboard the train for a guided trip around the historic buildings and displays that make up Griffith Pioneer Park Museum.

The tour offers insight into the way things were in Griffith. Historical commentary provided by Pioneer Park Museum’s Curator, Bonnie Owen will make these local stories come alive.

“We wanted to find a way to share the wealth of knowledge that has been accumulated over the years,” Ms Owen said.

“This tour allows passengers to take in the many exhibits at the Museum in a relaxed atmosphere, while hearing some interesting historical facts.

“We invite locals and visitors to come along and enjoy the tour.”

Train tours run from 11am and following the circuit there will be an opportunity for a cuppa and chat.

Adults $17, Concession $15, Children $13, Family (2A +3C) $30 + $5 pp over 5 includes entry, tour and afternoon tea.

Season passes are accepted for entry plus $5 per person for train tour.

Set amongst picturesque bush land, the Museum is dedicated to preserving the history of the City of Griffith. There you will find original buildings, machinery, vehicles, antiques and even Churches amongst the collections.

The Italian Museum also features, housing an incredible collection of artifacts from the earliest Italian settlers, from machinery to kitchenware and beautiful handmade garments.
