All eyes on Ange Postecoglou as the Premier League and LALIGA kick-off this weekend on Optus Sport

  • Ange Postecoglou debuts as the first Australian manager in the Premier League.
  • Premier League set for the closest title race in years
  • Barcelona looking to go back-to-back in LALIGA.
  • SnapChat to partner with Optus Sport for weekly highlights show, former Socceroo Mark Schwarzer to host weekly podcast.
  • All matches live on Optus Sport.

A jam-packed football calendar continues on Optus Sport with the two biggest competitions kicking off this week that include a new partnership with SnapChat for even more comprehensive coverage.

The Premier League is back, with all eyes on former Socceroo and Celtic Manager Ange Postecoglou as he kicks off his Premier League management career with a tricky London derby away at Brentford.

Manchester City are shooting for four titles in a row after being champions five of the last six seasons. Pep Guardiolas Cityzens won the coveted treble last season securing the domestic title, FA Cup and Champions League. However, they face intense competition for the Premier League title this season with their nearest challengers, Arsenal, investing heavily as they look to go one better following their second-place finish last season.

Across the continent, the El Clsico rivalry in LALIGA will continue and while Barcelona wrestled the Spanish title back from Real Madrid last season, its up for grabs again with little between both sides.

Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski finished as the leagues top scorer in his first season at the club and will again be up front at the Nou Camp this season. The Polish forward turns 35-years-old this month and is showing no signs of slowing down.

In a first for Australian football fans, SnapChat has partnered with Optus Sport to deliver a made-for-mobile weekly show capturing all the action across both competitions. It will share highlights, news and key moments each week for Snapchatters.

Former Socceroo, Mark Schwarzer, will also host a weekly Optus Sport podcast during the season with the first episode including a full breakdown of the season to come.

Head of Optus Sport, Howard Rees, said Optus Sport remains the home of the worlds best football with unparalleled coverage of the biggest competitions.

With Optus Sport you dont have to miss a single minute of the action in the Premier League and LALIGA, Rees said.

The moment Ange Postecoglou was announced as the new Spurs manager we knew that it was going to be a Premier League season like no other.

With pre-match shows, live coverage and then post-match analysis direct from the Premier League’s UK studios, its impossible to miss a kick and the highlights are broken down for fans at a range of lengths with a no spoiler button too, meaning fans have the option to watch whenever or however they choose.”
